The History Channel is a cable television channel, dedicated to the presentation of historical events and persons, often with frequent observations and explanations by noted historians as well as reenactors and witnesses to events, if possible. With many programs centering on wars such as the Civil War and World War II, it has often been jokingly referred to as the "War Channel" or the "Hitler Channel".The History Channel also maintains a non-profit fund called Save Our History, dedicated to the preservation of history, similar in spirit but not to be confused with the Society of Historical Preservation.
