The Highway of Death refers to two roads between Kuwait and Basra on which the retreating Iraqi army and some civilians were massacred by aircraft during the Gulf War.
On February 26 and February 27, 1991 the Iraqi army was retreating by from Kuwait in long vehicle convoys over an inland and a coastal road. US aircraft disabled the vehicles at the front and the rear of the convoys and next destroyed the convoys. 2000 vehicles were destroyed.
