\Hicetas (around 400 BC – around 335 BC) was a Greek philosopher of pythagorean school. He was born in Syracuse.He knew that daily movement of permanent stars depends of the rotation of the Earth around its axis. Like the pythagoreans Ecphantes and Heraclitus he claimed that Venus and Mercury circle around the Sun.
