Henry Cotton (Born Jan. 26, 1907) -- Prominent English golfer of the 1930s. Cotton almost single-handedly upheld the prestige of British golf in the Great Depression years with three victories in the British Open (1934, 1937, and 1948). In addition he captured many titles on the European Continent in the 1930s. His greatest year was 1937 when he won the British, French and Czechoslovakian Opens and was selected for the 1937 Ryder Cup matches. Cotton served as captain of the Ryder Cup team in 1947 and 1953.
