Head of the River Race Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Head of the River Race is a rowing race held annually on the Thames from Mortlake to Putney. Over 400 crews compete on the 4 1/4 mile (6,840 m) course. The race is only open to men's eights.

The course is identical to that of the Boat Race except rowed in the opposite direction.
