The Gwitch'in are an Athabascan people who live in the northern part of North America. Gwitch'in is sometimes spelled Kutchin in English.There are approximately 7,000 Gwich'in in 15 small villages in the Yukon Territory of Canada and in northern Alaska.
Gwich'in means people of the caribou, a reference to the source of a large part of their diet.
