Guadalupe has more than one meaning:
- Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, according to Roman Catholic canon, one of the three recognized appearances of the Virgin Mary which appeared to the indigenous Saint Juan Diego (the first canonized Saint of indigenous origin) in the mount of Tepeyac near Mexico City on December 12, 1531. Because of this, it is the most venered religious image in Mexico, and is considered by the country's catholic population as their main Patron. The anniversary of the appearance is conmemorated every year on December 12th and it is one of the country's most important festivities.
- The Basilica of Guadalupe, built in honor of Mary of Guadalupe, is the largest Basilica in America, located in Mexico City.
- Guadalupe is a town in Spain (pop. 2,325), in the Extremaduran province of Cáceres;. It is the location of a convent that was an important pilgrimage site.
- Isla de Guadalupe is a small island owned by Mexico on the Pacific ocean.
- Guadalupe (short "Lupe" or "Lupita") is a very common name in Spanish speaking countries (primarily Mexico), used in honor to the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe. Although most commonly a female name, it also can be assigned to males.
