.]]Abell 1835 IR1916 (also known as Abell 1835, Galaxy Abell 1835, or Galaxy Abell 1835 IR1916) is the farthest galaxy seen from Earth by humans (other farther galaxies have been seen, but from outside of the planet). It was discovered by the European Southern Observatory, but other observatories were needed to make an image of it possible.
The galaxy is 13.2 billion light years away from the Earth, in the Virgo constellation. This means that humans observe Abell 1835 as it was 13.2 billion years ago, only 500 million years after the Big Bang is believed to have occurred.
