Details, Explanation and Meaning About French Community of Belgium

French Community of Belgium Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The French Community of Belgium (French: Communauté française de Belgique) is one of the three official communities in Belgium along with the Flemish Community and the German speaking Community. Although its name could suggest that it is a community of French citizens in Belgium, it is not: the French Community of Belgium might instead be called the French speaking Community of Belgium.

The French Community of Belgium has its own parliament and government.

The Communauté Wallonie-Bruxelles seems to be a name given to some common institutions of the Walloon Region and the French Community of Belgium. However, this name is wholly unofficial, not foreseen by the constitution and hotly contested by the Flemings as it creates confusion about the differences between regional and community institutions (likewise there is no mention at all of "Flanders" as a region and community in the Belgian constitution - something which also creates confusion about the differences between regional and community institutions). The name indeed refers to two regions, where the Brussels Region still remains a fully autonomous regional institution.
