Fred Dagg is a fictional archetype satirist from New Zealand created and acted by John Morrison Clarke. The character is a stereotype farmer, singlet-clad, gumboot-obsessed, and Trev-attended.The film version was Dagg Day Afternoon (1977) (Directors: John Clarke and Geoff Murphy).
One memorable expression was uttered whenever there was a knock at the door: "That'll be the door".
In the late 1970s, Clarke moved from New Zealand to Australia, and New Zealanders lost one of their favourite humorists.
