Fernando Allende (born c. 1953) is a Mexican singer, actor producer and director. Allende began singing at the age of seven.By the 1970s, Allende had ventured into Spanish soap operas as well as Photo Soap Operas (magazine soap operas widely produced during the 1970s in many Latin American countries). His matinee idol looks helped Allende become a super star and teen idol across Latin America almost immediately.
Allende, who is Mexican by birth (his father is from Spain, his mother from Cuba and his grandmother was Puerto Rican) was voted as one of Mexico's most desirable bachelors at the height of his career. But the fact that he was single and a major superstar who knew many major actresses of the time but never seemed interested in dating any of them, led many to question his sexual orientation.
During the early 1980s, Allende moved to Hollywood, California. With little success in the "movie capital of the world", Allende nonetheless, went on to marry a wealthy Puerto Rican woman. The new couple set residence in Aspen, Colorado.
His wife turned out to be a world traveller, and Allende then became a regular vacationer at European spots. In 1996, the couple had their first son, who was followed in 1997 by another son.His two boys consider Venice, Italy as their favorite vacationing spot, but Allende and his wife disagree: Allende's wife lived in London, England for many years as a student and she fell in love with the city.
Fernando and his wife forged a friendship with David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, twelfth in line for the British throne. Queen Elizabeth II became interested in their friendship, and had the British secret service conduct a major investigation into the Allende family. Nothing wrong was found with the Allende family and eventually the Queen approved their friendship; she has even assigned the Scotland Yard police as official security for the Allende family everytime they visit England.
In 1999, Fernando and his wife relocated to Puerto Rico, where Fernando has successfully returned to his career as an actor, plus he has directed and produced his own movies and mini series.
