An
entablature is a
classical architectural element, the superstructure which lies horizontally above the
columns, resting on their
capitals. It is commonly divided into
architrave, the part immediately above the column;
frieze, the central space; and
cornice, the upper projecting moldings. It is found in classical architecture such as a Greek
temple.
