Emile (1762) by Jean-Jacques Rousseau is a treatise on education. Rousseau argues that children are perfectly designed organisms, ready to learn from their surroundings and to grow into virtuous adults. But, due to the influence of corrupt society, they often fail to do so.The full title is: Emile ou de l'education.
Emile (1827) by Émile de Girardin; is an autobiographical novel based on Girardin's early life.
