Details, Explanation and Meaning About Duvet

Duvet Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

A duvet (from the French duvet "down") is a soft flat bag filled with feathers, down, or artificial material used on a bed as a blanket. Duvets were originally used in Europe but have become popular throughout the world in the late twentieth century. The original duvets came out of rural Europe and were made of Eider, a type of duck's down, which is well known for its usefulness as an insulator. "Eiderdown" is therefore used as a synonym of "duvet". Duvets are also known as "continental quilts" or — in Australia and New Zealand — "Doonas", from a brand name.

Duvets reduce the complexity of making a bed, as it is a single blanket that can be used instead of the combination of sheets, blankets, and quilts, which is more traditional in many parts of the world.
