Details, Explanation and Meaning About DJ Screw

DJ Screw Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

DJ Screw (born Robert Earl Davis, Jr. on 20 July 1971 in Bastrop, Louisiana) was a central figure in the Houston rap scene. His trademark was slowing down a song when he remixed it. This process is called 'screwing' a song. Slowing down the song was supposed to recreate the effect of recreationally using codeine, also known as syrup or sizurp.

His creations are hard to come by legally, but eBay sells many of them.

DJ Screw's most famous protegee was Lil Flip, whose Game Over was a major hit in 2004.

DJ Screw died of a codeine overdose in 2000.

Dj Screw's most successful protogee is Z-ro who has released an average of 4 albums a year since 2000. Guerilla Maab is still holding down the SUC (Screwed Up Click) by releasing Screwed (SLAB'BED - Slow Loub And Bangin') versions of all their albums.
