Dick Cavett (November 19, 1936-) is a popular American television talk-show host, known for his "conversational style" of in-depth and often serious issues discussion.

Cavett was born in Gibbon, Nebraska. Earlier in his career, he wrote scripts for Jack Paar, Merv Griffin, Jerry Lewis, and Johnny Carson. He then became a talk show host and entertainer.

Cavett has hosted The Dick Cavett Show since 1969 on various television networks, including ABC (1969-74;86-87), CBS (1975), PBS (1977-82), USA (1985-86), and CNBC from 1989 to the present.

Cavett has been nominated for 11 Emmy Awards and has won 3. He has also appeared in the motion pictures Annie Hall (1977) and Forrest Gump (1994). He also appeared on an episode of Cheers.
