History
It was formed in 1980 by the merger of the Chessie System Railway and the Seaboard System Railroad, and serves many of the eastern U.S states (with a few routes into nearby Canadian cities). On June 6, 1998, CSX and Norfolk Southern jointly acquired the assets of Conrail.
