Details, Explanation and Meaning About Columbia Data Products

Columbia Data Products Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

June 1982: Columbia Data Products introduced the MPC - Multi Personal Computer.

An exact copy of the IBM PC model 5150 apart from the BIOS which was clean roomed. IBM had published the BUS and BIOS specifications assuming that this would be enough to encourage the add-on market and prevent unlicensed copying of the design. In this case they assumed wrongly.

Columbia Data Products was bought in 1986 and continues to trade under that name. Curiously enough no mention of the MPC can be found on the Company History page.
