Clackamas Indians Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Clackamas Indians were a tribe of natives of the American state of Oregon.

They were part of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde of Oregon.

Like other of the Chinook band, they practiced head-flattening. From infancy the head was compressed between boards, thus sloping the forehead backward.

By 1851, only 88 members of the tribe survived. Today they live on the Grande Ronde Reservation of Oregon.

Of note, they are the technical owners of the Willamette Meteorite.
