Christopher Robert Chope (born May 19, 1947) is an British Conservative politician.He was Member of Parliament for Southampton Itchen from 1983 to 1992, serving as a junior minister when he lost his seat. During this period he earned the nickname "Chopper" Chope, because of government spending cuts. He became MP for Christchurch in 1997. He is chairman of the Eurosceptic Conservative Way Forward group.
