Charles Lynch (1783 - 1853) was a Democratic Mississippi politician. He was elected to the state senate and served in 1827 and 1832-1833. In July 1833, he succeeded Governor Abram L. Scott who had died in office and remained so until the election of Hiram Runnels in November of that year. He was later elected in his own right and served a complete 2 year term as governor starting in January 1836.

A different Charles Lynch (1736-1796) was a Virginia planter and patriot who, during the American Revolution, headed an irregular court formed to punish supporters of the British (usually by hanging). Hence the terms lynching and lynch law.
