Carlsbad Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Carlsbad is the traditional English-language name for the city and spa of Karlovy Vary (German name: Karlsbad), situated in the western part of the Czech Republic. The city is named after Charles IV, who visited the place in the 1370s. It is historically famous for its hot springs (13 main and about 300 other smaller springs, the biggest and hottest at 73°C being Vrídlo, known in German as der Sprudel) and for its warm-water river, the Teplá.The city is perhaps better known today for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Karlovy Vary is also where the popular Czech liqueur Karlovarská Becherovka is produced and bottled.
