Caladan is a fictional planet in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert.Caladan is the ancestral fiefdom of House Atreides and the birthplace of Paul Atreides. At the start of the novel Dune, the Atreides leave Caladan under political pressure and take up residence on Arrakis.
After the time of the novel God Emperor of Dune, it simply became known as Dan.
