Details, Explanation and Meaning About Brotherhood of Nod

Brotherhood of Nod Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Brotherhood of Nod is one of the the primary factions in the Command and Conquer series of games (although the GDI-Nod conflict has been less dealt with after the success of the offshoot games like Red Alert). The Brotherhood is a quasi-terroristic, quasi-religious group led by a mysterious leader named Kane, who claimed to have messages from God. In game terms, they are the "Bad Guys".

While the Brotherhood claimed to have been around since 1800 BC, it is commonly believed that the Brotherhood was simply yet another minor terrorist faction. When a scandal broke regarding major Ameriaan contractors, it was discovered that Nod had substantial air, sea, and land power.

What separated The Brotherhood of Nod from any number of terrorists groups is Tiberium. Due partially to chance, the strange green crystals arrived in the middle eastern areas of the world. Due to climate, it also spread faster in those areas. The Brotherhood, being anti-Western, tapped into these suddenly-rich nations for substantial control of the Tiberium market. At the time of Tiberian Dawn, Nod controlled more than half of the world's Tiberium supply.

Nod looks at Tiberium far differently than their main enemy, GDI. Whereas GDI treats Tiberium as a dangerous but valuable product, the Brotherhood sees Tiberium as a dawn of a new age. As such, they are much more willing to directly use Tiberium in unsafe ways.

Before Tiberian Dawn is played out, it is believed that Nod's fiscal assets were in the range of 255.2 billion dollars.

According to the offical C&C storyline, Nod is defeated by the Global Defense Initiative. The blame for this lies squarely on Kane's shoulders. Kane devised a plan to blame GDI for the deaths of innocent civillians, who were living near a Nod chemical weapons plant.

The scandal, it seemed, caused the GDI forces to be shut down completely. Whenever the GDI left an area, Nod quickly arrived to take over. Kane was unaware, however, that this 'scandal' had been planned by GDI and the UN, and the reactivated GDI forces took back those territories (as well as large areas of Nod territory which had been left unmolested).

Kane himself was believed to have been killed at the final stand of the Brotherhood. With GDI forces swarming in, Kane calmly attempted to escape his 'Temple of Nod'. At the exit, however, the entire Temple was bathed in a bright light - the light of GDI's Ion Cannon. Kane was seemingly vaporised by the light, holding his arms out wide. Some claim that Kane was unaware that it was an Ion Cannon, only that he thought it was God's light.

If the GDI player destroys Kane's Temple without using the Ion Cannon, Kane is buried under large piles of rubble as he attempts to escape. Given that Kane returns in the sequal, it is possible that this, instead of the 'Ion Cannon Ending', is the true ending.

Following the first Tiberian War, the death of Kane caused the Brotherhood to factionalize into small armies, ruled by random generals. For quite a long time, they fought more against themselves than against GDI. When Kane resurfaced 30 years later they reunited and once again faced off against GDI forces.

According to the offical C&C storyline, Nod is again defeated by the Global Defense Inititive. It is discovered that Kane did not survive unharmed. Large portions of his face were covered in shiny grey metal, covering what seems to be massive burns. This was particularly surprising, as all transmissions from Kane to both Nod and GDI showed a flawless face.

The religious viewpoints of the Brotherhood of Nod focus on an alleged Tiberian future for humanity, in which all followers of Kane shall receive "Divination" and flourish in every imaginable aspect.
