Professor Bronisław Geremek (born March 6, 1932) is a distinguished Polish social historian and politician. He was a staunch opponent of the former totalitarian regime, and an advisor to Solidarity leader, Lech Walesa. After the collapse of communism he served as a deputy in the Polish Parliament and was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1997 to 2000.

Professor Geremek has received many prestigious decorations and distinctions, including the French Légion d'Honneur and the German Großes Verdienstkreuz mit Stern.

On Poland's accession to the European Union he was elected a Member of the European Parliament in 2004 on the Freedom Union (UW) ticket. He has been nominated by the ELDR group as their candidate for President of the European Parliament.
