Brahui Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
The Brahui are an ethnic group of about 2 million people, centered in Kalat, Pakistan. They speak a Dravidian language, which is the northermost representative of that family. _____________________________________________________________________ Brahui: Brahui is a language spoken only by Baloch people.Though,the origions of this language are still not clear.Most researchers say it is a Dravidian language but major Dravidian language experts dont accept it as a Dravidian.80% words of Brahui are Balochi,10% is Persian and the rest is unknown(may be Dravidian).There is no distinct text for Brahui,like Balochi it is written in Arabic script.Regions were Brahui is spoke are:Turkmanistan(Marv area),Sindh,Zahedan(western Balochistan),Zabol(Sistan,western Balochistan)),centrel parts of eastern Balochistan and the Jhalawan region(the Brahui heartland).In 1970's Pakistani(Punjabi) authorities tried to split the Baloch resistance by portraying Brahui and Balochi as different ethnic people on language basis but they(Punjabies) failed .The rulers of Balochistan the Khans(Khanate) were Brahui speakers,their(Khanate) court(official)language was Balochi rather Brahui.'Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baloch/Temp"
