Bobcat is a line of farm and construction equipment. Since 1995 the brand has been owned by the Ingersoll-Rand Company. The company sells skid loaders, compact excavators, compact utility vehicles and other small hydraulic equipment under the Bobcat brand name.The name originally referred only to skid loaders produced by Melroe Manufacturing Company which had acquired the design from its inventors. Often bobcat is used as a generic term for a skid loader.
