Bob Kelly "Bobby" Abreu [ah-BRAY-oo] (born March 11, 1974 in Aragua State, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball outfielder who bats left-handed, throws right, and is 6'0, 180 lb.Abreu's major league career started with the Houston Astros on September 1, 1996. He played only 74 games over two seasons in Houston. Left unprotected in the 1997 expansion draft when the Astros decided to keep fellow Venezuelan outfielder Richard Hidalgo, Abreu was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, but minutes later he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for shortstop Kevin Stocker.

In his career through 2003, Bobby Abreu has batted .306 with 136 homers and 569 RBI, amassing a total of 1091 hits, 631 runs, 250 doubles, 40 triples and 170 stolen bases in 1008 games played.
