Beggars Banquet Records Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Beggars Banquet was started as a chain of record shops by Martin Mills and Nick Austin. It became also a record label in 1979. The first band on the label was punk group The Lurkers. Hits with Tubeway Army and Gary Numan secured the label's future. Two daughter labels Situation Two Records and 4AD Records were launched to release artists like The Charlatans, The Pixies, The Cocteau Twins, M/A/R/R/S and others. XL Records was started with dance artists like The Prodigy and Basement Jaxx.Mantra Records, Mo'Wax Records, Locked On Records and Wiija Records are also part of the Beggars Group.
