Atellanę Fabulę Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Atellanæ Fabulæ (
Atellan Fables) were a collection of rough and ready
theatrical comedies popular in
Ancient Rome. Their name is derived from the town Atella in
Campania. These comedies were largely
improvised by the
actors during the performances themselves. They are of particular interest, as the likely origins of many
stock characters that later found themselves into the harliquinade.
