Details, Explanation and Meaning About Anglo-Celtic Australian

Anglo-Celtic Australian Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

Anglo-Celtic Australians are Australians of either Celtic (Cornish, Irish Gael, Manx Gael, Scots Gael, Welsh) or Anglo-Saxon (English) ancestry. As many people of Celtic ancestry find it offensive to be called Anglo-Saxons, the term is now the preferred one to describe Australian citizens whose ancestors emigrated from any part of the British Isles. Until World War II, Anglo-Celtics made up the overwhelming majority of the population, but sustained levels of migration from southern Europe, Southeast Asia and more recently the Middle East have somewhat reduced this dominance; at the most recent national census, 71% of respondents who reported a specific ancestry reported an Anglo-Celtic ancestry.
