The Anglo-American Summit was held on January 12, 1943, at the Anfa Hotel. Charles de Gaulle was invited to the summit but refused to attend. Eventually Winston Churchill threatened not to recognize de Gaulle as the head of the Free French if he did not attend; De Gaulle attended the summit.
