Amiloride Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
A potassium-sparing diuretic that was first approved for use in 1967 and helps to treat diseases of the heart, kidney and liver. The drug works by altering enzymes in the kidney that control urine production. This promotes the loss of sodium and water from the body, but does not deplete normal levels of potassium. The drug is often used in conjunction with thiazide or loop diuretics.
