Amerime is a portmanteau made out of the words American and anime. As the word suggests, it is used in reference to an animated series that resembles Japanese anime, but being produced in the United States or another Western country. The term can be a neutrally descriptive or derogatory, depending on the fandom.Examples of amerimes includes:
