Details, Explanation and Meaning About Albany Convention

Albany Convention Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Albany Convention was the first general scheme of union proposed to the Thirteen Colonies that later became the United States.

In 1754, at the outbreak of the French and Indian War, representatives of the American colonies met at Albany, New York to decide on the sphere of the Indians in the war and to confirm the peace of the Iroquois toward the colonists. A scheme of union of the colonies was proposed, but none accepted it. King George II of Great Britain refused it as giving too much power to the colonies and the colonies refused it as giving too much power to the king.
