Akkineni Nageswara Rao (born September 20, 1923), known as ANR for short, is a film actor from Andhra Pradesh. He was always the runner-up behind NT Rama Rao. He is known for his heart-wrenching performance in Devdas.Nageswara Rao was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, 1990, for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.
His son Nagarjuna is also an actor in Telugu and Hindi films.
