Agatharchides Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

Agatharchides, or Agatharchus, of Cnidus, was a Greek historian and geographer, who lived in the time of Ptolemy Philometor (181-146 BC) and his successors.

Amongst other works, he wrote treatises on Asia, Europe and the Red Sea. Extracts from the last are preserved in Photius ('codex 213), who praises the style of the author, which was modelled on that of Thucydides. His works are not extant.
