Ágætis Byrjun was a 1999 (see 1999 in music) album released by Icelandic musical band Sigur Rós.

The ten songs on the album include some self-referencing: the introduction contains backmasked parts from the title track, and the last song, "Avalon", contains a fugue section from "Starálfur" slowed down four times.
