The Afro-American religions are a number of related religions that developed in the Americas among African slaves and their descendants.These religions are generally based on the African concept of divine spirit — the Orishas of the Yoruba, the Inkices of Bantu traditons, and the Voduns of Dahomey — often combined with European concepts such as Catholic saints, Kardecist spirits, and sometimes Native American deities.
