History

A Phazon meteor struck Aether causing the planet to "split" into 2 dimensional planes: a "Light World" and a "Dark World".

Light World

The light world exists in normal space. The dominant species are the Luminoth.

Dark World

This dimension was created when the meteor struck. Matter and energy from the "light" or regular world decay rapidly here. The Ing thrive here.
