Adjutant General's Corps Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Adjutant General's Corps is a corps in the British Army responsible for many of the general administrative services. It was formed in 1992 through the amalgamation of several separate services:

• Army Legal Corps
• Corps of Royal Military Police
• Military Provost Staff Corps
• Royal Army Educational Corps
• Royal Army Pay Corps
• Women's Royal Army Corps

The AGC is made up of four separate branches, that take on the various tasks of the units that were amalgamated to form it:

• Army Legal Services Branch - this undertakes the responsibilities of the Army Legal Corps, retaining the ALC's cap badge.
• Educational and Training Services Branch - this has the responsibilities of the Royal Army Educational Corps.
• Provost Branch - this undertakes the responsibilities of both the Corps of Royal Military Police and the Military Provost Staff Corps, with both cap badges being retained. The RMP is the Army's police force, while the MPSC provides guards for military prisons.
• Staff and Personnel Branch - this was formed by the amalgamation of the Royal Army Pay Corps and the Women's Royal Army Corps, and provides all of the clerks for the army.
